Ioana Stevin
Birthday: December 9, 1967
Children: 2 (twins, a boy and a girl, 1 year old); married, husband works as well for P&G.
Education: Polytechnics Institute, Timisoara, Romania; Mechanical Engineer
Hobbies: good/classic movies, reading, classic music, swimming, enjoy the nature......
I started in P&G as translator, did have several roles in the plant: contractor safety coordinator, warehouse manager, planning manager, operation manager. I worked in Rakona as packing department manager and in Brussels as category planner for Central and Easter Europe, Middle East and Africa. I went back to Timisoara as a Plant Manager. I am now in Rakona, as well in the role of Plant Manager.
My career shows that, in P&G, the only limit is yourself!!!!!
1. How did you get known about P&G?
In August 1995, my mother found out that „ multinational P&G“ is planning to acquire a plant in Romania and they are looking for a translator. It was not the best job I could dream of, still, it was P&G!!!!
During the interviews, I fastly made up my mind – I remember I went out of the interview room telling myself: I am not sure they will want me, however, I am convinced I would like to work for this company!!!! Auditors impressed me.
So I accepted a 2 months temporary contract and here I am, working already 13 years in the company, being a level IV Manager.
2. What is your memory on your beginnings in P&G?
International environment, respect for people and early responsibilities.
3. Which is your current job?
As of October 1, 2007 – after 8 months in maternity leave – I became the Plant manager of Rakona Plant, in Czech Republic.
I was not boring for 1 single hour of my P&G career. Environment is very demanding, there is always something to learn, something challenging to do.
What I like most in my job is to grow capability of my people, to spend quality time for their coaching. Nothing is more rewarding for me than seeing young people growing in their professional and personal life; some of them became my peers or even had faster career growth than myself. In such a dynamic environment, in a company where we are serious about promotion from within, we can all grow to our full potential, we can all fulfill our ambitions.
4. What do you usually do in your spare time?
I am a mother and a wife. I enjoy spending time with my family, with my twins!!! Not easy to balance family and my challenging job, still possible within P&G; you can get a real flexible work arrangement ( part time, flexible working hours) ; whenever we had to change location, me and my husband were looked at together, we both were taken care of.
